✦ 25 Years in the U.S. × English Education in Japan
After living in the U.S. for about 25 years, I returned to Japan and am now based in Kanagawa. With a background in both English education and creative design, I’ve been teaching students of all ages since 2016 — from children to adults and educators.
My teaching focuses not just on vocabulary and grammar but also on rhythm, intonation, and nonverbal communication — the small details that make English sound natural and alive.
✦ Making English Visual, Logical, and Fun
I believe English should be something approachable and enjoyable. That’s why I create story-based ESL worksheets, printable quizzes, and visual learning materials that help learners and teachers connect with English creatively.
I also explore how AI tools like ChatGPT and design platforms like Canva can make English education more interactive and inspiring for modern learners.
✦ From the Classroom to Creative Learning
Before returning to teaching full time, I worked for an energy-related company promoting Japanese technologies around the world. That experience showed me how language can connect ideas across cultures — a lesson that continues to shape my approach to English education today.
Through The ESL Detective, I now combine my passion for language, design, and storytelling to create resources that make learning English both meaningful and fun.
